I am finally actually going to do this...

I have changed the idea a bit. I am going to make this more of a artist in the round idea. I am going to invite artists and musicians to post Lyrics, song snippets (even crappy quality ones or three second melodies), poetry, artwork, recipes, or any other creative idea. The idea is for feedback for growing artists. This is UNBELIEVABLY revealing, but I think extremely helpful.

We are all in process, so be nice. However, if you are brave enough to post... you must realize that not all feedback is going to be good. It is for you to decipher through and use to your advantage.

Here is an example of something I am working on (I will add an audio snippet once I get some feed back):

Shown
I don't need anything
I don't want anyone
Than who you are

Light
Light from the morning star
Pointing us homeward bound, and relief from these scars

I'm warm in the rain, telling me something's not right
I've coped with the pain, but now I'm trying to feel it

But daylight will break through pillars of night
Spring will bring end to blankets of white
Do not let what's stone fade with the rain
Love will come swift to all who die for it

Hope
Hope is what driving us
Teaching us how to trust
In more than ourselves

Peace
An answer to misery
We've traded identity
And settled on use

12345
I'm counting on the rain
A chance to be born
But still focused on the shame

But daylight will break through pillars of night
Spring will bring end to blankets of white
Do not let what's stone fade with the rain
Love will come swift to all who die for it

Calling out
I don't want to be here
I don't want to be here
Call me out
I don't want to be here
I don't want to be here

Music to follow... the song is actually done, and I perform it now... I am just giving an example for you to begin picking apart...

Peace

In the begining....

I am not really intelligent enough to start a blog. Anything I might say isn't educated enough to be concrete. I do not pressume to know the answers to a particular issue. I am not going to create one of those types of blogs. My blog will be a place for people to discuss music and art and the great issues of the day (as well as post recipes or any other crafty tip for others to use). I know this is a generic template, but I would love to use this as a place, not to be community, but rather spark community. Can this be done? You let me know. It comes down to how you respond. My ultimate goal is to create a place for artists and musicians and activists to come together and use each other to accomplish the goals that they are trying for. This is meant to connect. Simple as that. I am working toward creating something great. Here is the basic concept: I want to create a place where artists, poets, writers, and musicians can come together to support what they do and help those in need. The way I propose doing that is pretty simple, but there needs to be some explanation first. Digital music is quickly becoming the primary source of purchasing music in the industry. The problem is that when that happens, a lot of people get the shaft. Artists who had a healthy business creating album art now become obsolete. Musicians aren’t making what they should because unless they have a contract with a controlling large label, they will not make enough from their small shows (no one will come because they don't know who they are) and almost zero album sales. My vision is simple, have a place for artists to respond to the music by creating virtual album art (art posted on the web), and musicians to help themsleves. The musicians will be able to put their music online and sell it. Artists will be able to show previews of their work, and sell it as well. Purchasers can either tell five friends about an album or certain art piece and get it for free, or pay what they want over a dollar. If they do the later, it will be under the understanding that 20% (or maybe more) goes directly to a certain cause. The cause itself helps to fund that particular artist or musician, and therefore benefits off of the investment. Its a real simple concept, but it accomplishes some beautiful things. That is long term. For now, we are building community. For something like this to work, it will take the support of many. Start talking, start doing, and begin to see this grow.
